Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a major film company and introducing audiences to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
